Buffalo NY Fishing Report – Observations from 07/07/2025 – 07/13/2025
Here’s our latest Buffalo NY fishing report: Lake Erie gold continues to be abundant – get rich while you can! The walleye bite from Buffalo to Barcelona is incredible right now – by most counts – the best they’ve ever seen. I took one day off this past week to get the boat detailed and fished the rest. From Buffalo to Hanover, I covered a lot of ground with some great folks who all went home with limits of walleye filets…and yet, I managed to say to a couple of tanker small jaws too. Life is good here in the Buffalo Niagara Region.
Also – I had a last minute cancellation for Tuesday, 7/15 – give me a call if you’re interested.
Days on the water: 6
Who we fished with: friends/clients
Where we fished: Lake Erie

Detailed Reporting/Daily Observations
07/07/2025 – Maintenance Day
Took the day off to have the boat detailed. Once again, Liam Kennedy (Kennedy Auto Care – Mobile Car and Boat Detailing Services | Expert Care On-The-Go) did an amazing job getting the Warrior back to looking brand new.
07/08/2025 – Back and Better than Before
Fished Lake Erie for walleyes out of Buffalo, NY with Mike, Michael, and Frank. These guys fished with me for the first time a few weeks ago out of Barcelona. We had so much fun on that trip they booked another walleye trip as soon as we got off the water. On this day, it was calm, hot, and buggy. We started super early to beat the heat and the crowds. It was a little slow to start, but we crossed more than a few “wolfpacks” and got our limit in short order.
07/09/2025 – Good times with the Garcias
Fished Lake Erie for walleyes out of Buffalo, NY with Ed, Kristina, and Matt. I fished with this family for the first time last summer and we had a blast. I was very happy when Kristina called to book a couple of days for this summer. We started early and finished fast to beat the heat, crowds, and bugs. It was an awesome day with a good range of sizes and consistent action.
07/10/2025 – A Gift of Gold
Fished Lake Erie for walleyes out of Buffalo, NY with new clients Dave, Dick, and Nick. Dave booked this to treat a couple of his best customers to a day on the water. The forecast called for a windless and hot day – which also meant that bugs and crowds were going to be a factor. Thankfully, these guys were keen to start at dawn. It was one of those sessions where I couldn’t get all my lines in the water – sometimes I’d get bit holding the line while putting on a planer board. Insane morning.
07/11/2025 – They’re Everywhere!
Fished Lake Erie for walleyes out of Buffalo, NY with Paul, Gabrielle, and Derek. This crew fished with me last year around the same time and absolutely hammered ‘eyes out of the Catt. So, they had reasonably high expectations for this trip. It didn’t disappoint. It was a gorgeous day – partly cloudy with just a light enough breeze to keep the bugs down and the temperature comfortable. I picked a new zone to fish, and we ended up getting into them right away. They’re everywhere, folks – it’s wild.
07/12/2025 – A Change was in Order
Fished Lake Erie for walleyes out of Hanover, NY with new clients, Rick, Brian, and Cole. These guys wanted to catch walleyes badly – they’ve made attempts in the past to bring in some gold but couldn’t close the deal. When I talked with Rick the night before, I explained to him that his drought was about to come to an end.
Getting weary of the crowds and long lines at the cleaning station in Buffalo, NY, I decided to launch out of Hanover, NY. The middle of June was the last time I fished out of there so I was a little anxious about what I was going to find. So, I picked a location that I thought would work and when I got there, my sonar screen was loaded with hooks. Like I said above, they’re seemingly everywhere.
A small storm cell passed us early, and the wind shifted 180 degrees in a couple of hours – neither was part of the forecast btw. Boat control was problematic – so we kept the program simple – bottom bouncing – 1 rod per angler – let’s go! We hammered!
07/13/2025 – Playing Around
Fished Lake Erie and the Upper Niagara for smallmouth bass and freshwater drum with Drew, James, and Theo. There was a SW wind gusting into the teens, so Lake Erie was rolling. We had a steady bite going – lots of drum and the occasional big smallmouth bass. The boys tolerated the waves well at first…until they didn’t. Seasickness became a factor – so we went to the river. We didn’t catch much, one nice one – the algae was super thick.
Seasonal Assessment/General Observations
Short summary again this week, folks – I fished a ton and slept very little – still feeling strong – just in the zone and very “well fished.” Once again, there isn’t much to say beyond the walleye action is absolutely insane right now. It seems like there is a mega school hanging out in NY waters – from Buffalo to Erie, PA. You can go anywhere and fish just about any depth and find them right now. Get out there and practice some new techniques instead of boxing and breaking out. It won’t stay this way for too long. Enjoy!
Buffalo NY Fishing Report – Forecast for 07/14/2025 – 07/20/2025
Forecast Commentary
The forecast for this upcoming week looks kinda dicey here and there. We might finally get some less oppressive temperatures, a little wind, and some rain – at last. Every day looks fishable, so long as you’re willing to brave wind, rain, and the occasional thunderstorm. I, for one, am looking forward to those conditions. These 90 degree days can quickly suck the life out of you.
NOTICE: I had a last-minute cancellation for Tuesday, 7/15 – so it’s available. The forecast looks perfect. If you want to get out, give me a call asap. Otherwise, I’m booked daily. Walleyes will dominate the docket, but I’ll check in on the bass bite at least once.
Stay healthy my friends – mentally and physically,
Ryan
